What is OCD?

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is a condition characterised by uncontrollable, recurring thoughts (obsessions) and/or behaviours (compulsions) that a person feels driven to repeat. These rituals can cause severe anxiety and interfere with daily life.

OCD can become attached to any element of our lives. Common OCD themes include excessive worry about:

  • – Contamination, dirt or germs.
  • – Causing harm.
  • – Checking things.
  • – Symmetry and order.
  • – Morality and being a ‘bad’ person.
  • – Taboo thoughts.
  • – Relationships.
